3 living trends for 2023

3 living trends for 2023

by Tiny de Vries
Hot furnishing trends for the new year!  In 2023 things are getting colourful and individual. 2022 was all about calm colours, cosy furniture and subtleness, but 2023 brings oodles of individualism and self-realisation. Now we can play around with forms, materials, colours and styles.   For my latest blog post, I have delved deeply into the 2023 decor trends, and I can assure you that you won't be able to escape the following three interior trends.   TREND 1:  LOUD COLOURS  The 2023 trend colours (to the blogpost) have revealed some of this, with even furniture and decor accessories showing their colourful, expressive side this year.  White and neutral tones, which have made way for louder colours, are increasingly used as feel-good focal points in the living area. And striking wall pictures, playful carpets and colourful living accessories provide an instant dopamine kick to your four walls.   Matching art prints  BAY VIEW, A4 art print, from €42.45 KOREAN HANDBOK, art print in 30 X 40 cm from €54.95 TREND 2: WELCOME TO UNIQUE AND VINTAGE PIECES  Goodbye to off-the-shelf designs and mass-produced products! This year, the trend is to personalise and express your individuality. Individual pieces and pre-owned objects and furniture are finding their way into our living spaces, and we can combine them at will with the new. Flea market finds are very popular and combine excellently with your existing furniture.    Matching art prints  FOLLOW RIVERS art print, available in the sizes 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm und 50 x 70 cm, from €54.95 SAND AND CORAL, art print in 30 x 40 cm, from €54.95 TREND 3: GREENTERIOR  In keeping with our passion for sustainability and environmental consciousness, this trend represents more nature in our interiors. However, the idea is not to decorate your four walls with indoor plants. This year, warm, earthy and coffee tones, natural materials like rattan and seaweed and botanical motives are taking over, especially in the kitchen and dining room. Add a few attractive pottery pieces, and your look will be perfect.   Matching art prints  VERTE, art print in 30 x 40 cm, from €54.95 STILL LIFE, art print in 30 x 40 cm, from €54.95 You can find more decor inspiration in my online shop, on Instagram or on Pinterest.    Love,  Tiny
2023 Interior colour trends

2023 Interior colour trends

by Tiny de Vries
Dare something new; dare with colour. My plans for 2023? Having the courage to dare something new, to dare with colour. Let's make a colourful start to this new year by diving into the four main interior colour trends of 2023 – "Lavender Cream", "Red Latex", "Brown Sand", and "Green Deep Lake". In this post, I delve more deeply into these fresh new colour worlds and their effects and present some matching artworks from my online shop www.tinystories.nl. Have fun while you discover your favourite colour for the new year! TREND COLOUR 1: LAVENDER CREAM The soft lilac tone, “Lavender Cream”, is diverse and facilitates diverse moods, radiating peace and cheerfulness. While a deep violet seems extravagant and original, the light "Lavender Cream" is much softer and more relaxing. When you combine it with beige and rust nuances, you can create exciting contrasts. I especially love the friendly aspect of this colour tone. It fills me with peace and relaxation, like a short holiday break from that everyday stress. MATCHING PICTURES LILAC A5 Art card (€ 8.95) CORAL & CHOCOLATE art print (30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm, from €54.95) TREND COLOUR 2: RED LATEX The expressive colour "Red Latex" creates a euphoric mood in interior spaces and can set an extravagant scene for individual furniture pieces and accessories like art prints or vases.  With its WOW effect, this trend colour is very provoking, with a hint of seduction. Optimistic red tones radiate energy and reveal an eagerness to gather new experiences. This colour lends itself to experimentation and unfolds warmth and comfort in these cold winter months. I recommend using lighter natural tones and white to balance the intense red. MATCHING PICTURE DANS LE JARDIN JAPONAIS wall hanging (€299.95), woven 100% organic cotton.   TREND COLOUR 3: BROWN SAND Warm earthy tones, such as Sand, Clay, Ochre and Terracotta, are calming and satisfy that yearning to live close to nature. This trend colour creates a space that grounds us and offers security.  A mixture of a caramel-like brown-orange and a light nude tone, "Brown Sand" exudes the lightness of a Mediterranean summer vacation. Calm colours combine exceptionally well with other nuances and create room for unique interior styling ideas with vintage finds like baskets and ceramics. MATCHING PICTURE AAMER art print (A4 and 30 X 40 cm, from €54.95)   TREND COLOUR 4: GREEN DEEP LAKE The interior space experiences a bold yet sentimental note. This dark blue-green allows us to dive into the colour depths of a lake and seems nostalgic, emotional and secretive. Ensconced between sea blue and leaf green, this trend colour was derived from nature and creates a calming atmosphere in any room. A green tone in an interior space always draws in a part of nature, connecting the indoors to the living outdoors.  Because we’re dealing with a dark shade, the colour "Green Deep Lake" should be used with care, as applying it to a large surface area could make the room seem smaller.   MATCHING PICTURES ÉMERAUDE wall hanging (€179.95) EMERALD GREEN limited art print (A4 and 30 X 40 cm, from €52.45) You can find more decor inspiration in my online shop, on Instagram @tinystories.nl, or on Pinterest @tinystoriesartshop. Guest contribution: A bit of magic with beautiful art prints by the artist, Tiny. This contribution was written and photographed by Daniela from @wunderblumen. Tiny's beautiful pictures have long been finding their way into our home. Her works, created with "heart, love and soul", are sometimes loud and sometimes soft. They might be either colourful or muted, powerful or poetic. But they all have this in common: "They contain a certain magic." I find her art prints look beautiful on their own, yet also when combined with other art prints or on a picture wall. Selecting my favourite picture would prove difficult. However, because of its power and rich colour, I particularly love CORAL & CHOCOLATE. It hung in my daughter's bedroom for a long time, and it’s s to end up there again. Two of Tiny's works, POÈME and SOFT BREEZE, hang in the main bedroom. Here, I chose "quiet" pictures that bring a peaceful atmosphere to the room with their modesty and harmonious colours. Designing a new picture wall is always an experience. The colours of the anticipated hanging, as well as the atmosphere of the room, determine my choice of art prints. My gaze often returns to a particular picture, which then determines the other works, also influencing the accessory colours. This time, the picture was VERTE, with its saturated green leaves on a rose-pink background. These are unusual colours for me, but the picture wouldn't leave my mind, and I started experimenting with it. In the preliminary stage, I always construct a mood board to see how the art prints could combine with the colours of the room. Another favourite of mine is the picture, DREAMY LANDSCAPE, with its harmonious, soft colours. In the end, I combined four pictures that differed in size, colour and motif. I always choose oak frames because they create a connection between all the pictures. Before I hang the pictures, I try out all the possible arrangements on the floor. I move the pictures from left to right, and by continuing this process, I usually find my favourite version. When hanging them, I always try to maintain an equal distance between pictures. It took quite some time before I completed the picture wall. But the wonderful colours and motifs of Tiny's pictures have given the room a completely new atmosphere. Artistic gifts of joy

Artistic gifts of joy

Last-minute Christmas gift ideas Choosing, wrapping, unwrapping, and feeling thrilled! Above all else, Christmas should centre around sharing beautiful moments, sharing time with one another, and showing your loved ones how much they mean to you. And even the undecided procrastinators will still have enough time to find artistic Christmas gifts for family and friends in my online shop.   Various sources of inspiration – such as an immersion into foreign cultures, femininity, encounters with nature, and a passion for handicrafts – have been combined in a portfolio of unique art prints, large-format wall hangings and poetic art cards. This year, instead of passing fashion trends, we can give lasting artistic joy. In the article below, I’ve put together a gift guide for you. Have fun browsing!   Gifts for every budget  Art under €20 Friendships are often maintained by small gifts like poetic art cards that can also greatly impact any apartment. The A5 mini art print ÉMERAUDE (€16.95) contains an expressive female profile. What first catches your eye is the prominent earring, whereafter your gaze sinks into the cool, intense emerald background. The botanical motif GINGKO (€8.95) is a leaf painting in light beige and gold tones, a relaxing focal point on your wall, promising the enduring joy of nature. Art under €60 Art has an extraordinary way of creating joy. It's as individual as each one of us. Surrounded by layers of vintage paper in various shades of green, the pink square's radiance will captivate you. The art print EMERALD GREEN ( A4, from €52.45), limited to 300 copies, is hand-numbered and signed by the artist in soft pencil. The art print CITRONS À L'INDIGO, available in A4 for €42.45, is a luminous display of colour inspired by the street markets of Marrakesh. In the art print CHALK & TANGERINE (from €42.45), delicate shades of soft pink and grey are artfully challenged by a powerful red that forms a direct dialogue with the viewer. This quality reproduction, with the original done on vintage paper, is available in A4, 30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm. This monoprint (€54.95), inspired by the intoxicating city of Marrakesh, is available in a 30 x 40 cm size. At sunset, the city, also known as the “red city” due to the colour of its walls, reveals itself in a colourful cloak of dark red tones, expressed in the work MARRAKESH. Art under €90 The CORAL & CHOCOLATE art print (30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm, from €84.95) promises visual pleasure. Strong earth tones meet playful pastels in the abstract landscape, joining in a sensuous dance, rich in contrast. The sight of the delicate yet powerful female figure in traditional Japanese costume takes us on a wonderful journey of the imagination in the two-colour art print KIMONO (€84.95).   Art over €150 With its vivid shades of green and blue, the KOREAN FLOWERS wall hanging (80 x 100 cm, €179.95) contrasts the wintry grey with a powerful colour accent, bringing a magical vibrancy into the living room.  The muted colour palette and softness of the wall hanging BLUE EYES (€179.95) usher peace into the room and our often-hectic daily life.  A Japanese brush was used to paint the original on pages of an old book. Wondering how to choose the perfect gift? Here are 4 tips for finding the right artwork. Refine your search. Is your recipient passionate about a specific theme or genre that they have in their home gallery? Is it abstract paintings and collages, or perhaps silhouettes, that will make their face light up when they unwrap their gift? Skilfully playing with colour. The artwork you select should fit in with the colours in the room and create a harmonious overall picture. Is there a specific colour concept in the apartment where your gift art piece will be displayed? Make way! Should your gift be a large-format soloist on the wall or a small new eye-catcher added to the collection in a Petersburg hanging? The presentation location will often determine the image size. That's why it would be wise to take a discreet little tour of the art lover's home, enabling you to choose the right large or small-format work. Captured moments. The shared moments that build a special bond might include far-flung trips, nature walks, having the same favourite flower or an emotional friendship experience. An artwork could form a lasting celebration of these connecting moments. You can find more inspiration for the Christmas season in my online shop, on Instagram or on Pinterest.   Love,
Minimalist Christmas with tinystories

Minimalist Christmas with tinystories

by Tiny de Vries
Three unpretentious decor ideas for this Christmas season Slowly but surely, we’re ringing in the pre-Christmas season and starting to celebrate its cosy magic. As we do this, we reflect on what is essential and celebrate the "Minimalist Christmas" home trend. In this article, I will show you how to artistically achieve the effect and introduce three decorative ideas for a relaxed Christmas season. Christmas Idea 1 – Wrap nature as a gift O Tannenbaum [O Christmas Tree]! The Christmas tree remains the central element of our Christmas decor and the backdrop to our Christmas eve gift exchange. How about seeing nature as a gift this year and allowing the green of the tree to shine? Instead of becoming overloaded with sumptuous bling, the Christmas tree could exhibit itself in its simple garb, convincingly proving the motto "less is more!" And, on the wall, a companion — the artwork GINGKO – could join the fir tree in the room. The 50 x 70 cm botanical motif of a Ginkgo branch is designed in light beige and gold tones on white. In addition to having a simple beauty, the ginkgo is also a Japanese symbol of growth, protection, peace, strength, hope, love and longevity, as the tree can live to be a thousand years old. Christmas Idea 2 – Silent Night, cosy Night Christmas parties are often rowdy, filled with hustle and bustle. A cosy silence where you surround yourself with natural materials and motifs in soft tones, such as clay and lime colours, could create that subsequent relaxing effect you will need. Beholding the textile artwork WHISPERS FROM THE WOOD (80 x 100 cm, €159.95) is like taking a deep, calming breath. The winter motif of a bare tree in the middle of a snow-covered landscape reminds us of the power and tranquillity of nature. Christmas Idea 3 – Intense warmth on cold days Cosy comfort meets artistic radiance this Christmas. Works of art in bold shades such as red or purple combined with flickering candlelight bring an enchanting lustre to the home. When you combine these elements on a tray, you’ll serve up a little cosiness and add some floral flair to the party. The mini art print FLEURS POUPRES (€8.95) is a beautiful quality reproduction. The print can be supplied in a handmade A4 frame on request. You can choose from solid lime wood, oak wood, and black or white wood.  You can find more Christmas season inspiration in my Online-Shop, on Instagram or on Pinterest. Love,

Styling tip: Autumn ambience in just 3 steps Autumn has been clothing our trees in their coats of many colours, and these natural tones have moved indoors as well. The interplay between different red tones, muted and subtle shades of brown and various yellow nuances can sustain this autumn feeling. Light grey and pastel tones make the look less severe, adding a lightness to the harmonious autumn picture. In the following article, I’ve put together three styling tips for a cosy autumn ambience:  Tip 1: A brief history of cosiness Cushions, cushions, and more cushions. Besides using matching shades, patterns and various fabrics, you can also create a cosy and autumnal ambience by playing around with the number of cushions and creating a decorative, cuddly island. Because a cushion doesn't like to be left all alone… Tip 2: A lasting love of flowers Individual dried flowers and branches or artfully arranged bouquets which can be effectively staged in combination with artwork can bring long-lasting joy. Tip 3: A feeling of harmony Create warmth and comfort on your walls. You can achieve this by creating an interplay between different colours or through a picture gallery where you arrange several pictures and frames on the wall or the floor. Artworks in warm leafy colours It’s time to get cosy with tinystories. The combination of soft nuances, natural materials and poetic artworks in warm leafy colours will sweeten our autumn. It's time to draw those super-cuddly pillows and blankets out of their summer sleep, light the first candles, and add some variety to our walls with new art prints.  In the following article, I've compiled my favourite art prints for the golden season: JAPANESE CHARMThis delicate drawing of a woman in a kimono celebrates the beauty and culture of Japan. The restrained lines of the monochrome sketch were done in oil pastel on vintage paper. The art print KIMONO is printed on sustainable, chlorine-free paper and is available in two sizes, A4 and 50 x 70 cm (from €42.45). PURE NATUREThe simultaneous simplicity and strength of the art print MARRON (30 x 40 cm, €54.95) create a convincing effect. The vibrant pink floral pattern contrasts wonderfully with the brown background. FIELD OF FLOWERSThe art print WILD FLOWERS has a calming and relaxing effect — a daily reminder to enjoy the beauty of nature. The original artwork was painted in the Balearic Islands, using self-mixed rock chalk and saltwater pigments. The art print is available in the sizes 30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm (from €54.95). FLOWERING JAPANThe woman's face glances expressively at the viewer, taking them on a dreamy journey. The art print SAKURA is named after the Japanese cherry blossom, representing beauty, departure, and transience. The quality reproduction is available in 30 x 40 cm (from €54.95). Natural Living

Natural Living

Naturally beautiful in autumn with three home ideas Whatever combines harmoniously in nature will also spread peace and a cosy ambience in an interior setting. The combination of soft colour nuances, sustainable natural materials and poetic artworks can make the autumn even sweeter. Keeping with the current Natural Living trend, we create a feel-good home with matching art prints, collages, and wall hangings from my online shop, www.tinystories.de. In the following article, I have put together three home ideas for an artistic journey into autumn.  HOME IDEA 1 – A WONDERFUL HARMONY  In autumn, you can add exciting blush, nude and white updates to your home gallery. These popular art prints are uniformly framed in dark oak, creating warmth and elegance. Feminine silhouettes in soft earth tones such as the two-colour art print CATCHING THE SUN (€49.95, 30 x 40 cm), or botanical motifs such as the 50 x 70 cm painting GINGKO (from €98.95) with its dark frame, form pleasing eye-catchers, despite the contrast. HOME IDEA 2 – COMFORTING, SOFT ART JOY  Bedding in the most beautiful earth tones and cushions with colourful ethnic patterns ensure pleasant soft nights. With my large-format wall hangings, things remain soft on the walls. Nature meets its poetic echo, transforming your four walls into a relaxation space. The wall hanging L’AMOUR (151 x 201 cm, €299.95) displays a sensual female portrait as its motif and is kept in natural, soft colours that will immerse the room in an intimate atmosphere. HOME IDEA 3 – LONG LIVE THE LOVE OF COLLECTING  Whether you use them individually or in a group – baskets and ceramic containers are not only practical as o but also highly decorative. They could form the perfect storage spaces for tiny treasures and memorabilia collected on your last summer adventure. Similar shapes and colours create a coherent overall impression. Artworks in beige and earth tones from the same colour family round off the ambience to form a harmonious overall picture. The abstract art print DREAM (from €49.95) is compelling with its simple layered vintage papers — perhaps the beginning of a new art collection? Eternal summer

Eternal summer

Three artistic home ideas to make summer last a little longer We are currently enjoying the last weeks of summer. So it's about time to extend the most beautiful season of the year at home and create our own breezy paradise with a few tips and tricks. In the following article, I will introduce you to three home ideas that will give your home a makeover that brings soft elegance and preserves the summer feelings. You can find the matching paintings, collages and wall hangings for the eternal summer in my online shop www.tinystories.nl. HOME TIP 1 – CONJURE UP SUMMER LIGHTNESS  Fancy some candy floss and soft serve ice cream? We love that lightness of being in summer. So, let’s exchange the heavy wool blankets and cuddly cushions for brightly coloured and airy textiles such as linen, silk or viscose. Transparent fabrics conjure up a summery atmosphere in no time. Combined with pastel colours or with ethnic-patterned or trendy fringed cushions, these textiles ensure a good mood and cheerful look. We can also embellish our walls with breezy pastel hues, which in the landscape art print CORAL & CHOCOLATE (€49.95) meet with strong earth tones, forming a harmonious connection. This high-quality reproduction is available in 30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm sizes. HOME TIP 2 – A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE  Inspired by summer nature, we enjoy the effect of lively greenery inside our four walls. Pastel green is a perfect choice if you want more lightness, and your room needs a colourful dollop of freshness. Using pastel yellow and gold details such as candlesticks or bowls can create exciting contrasts. However, a light green shade also comes into its own when combined with rust red. In interior design, shades of pastel green and natural materials such as wood and stone form a harmonious combination, which is both modern and relaxing.  Things turn fabulously green with the 30 X 40 cm art print PALMIER (€49.95), a botanical highlight in the home gallery. HOME TIP 3 – A SEA OF FLOWERS  You can add some summer flair to your apartment by using typical blossom colours and textiles or artworks with a variety of different flowers, such as the floral and expressive quality reproduction FLOATING FLOWERS (in A4, from €39.95). All artworks can also be bought framed with high-quality wooden frames. You can find more inspiration in my online shop or on Instagram. Love,

Holiday flair for your home You might feel a nagging wanderlust pulling you toward the wide world. The next trip is sure to come, but in the meantime, you could already set the holiday scene in your own home with the latest decorative favourites: a short trip to the seaside, into the jungle or into the land of the rising sun, Japan. On my travels, I find new sources of inspiration for my art and collect unique materials like brushes and paper. I combine both elements in my poetic and exotic artworks, which allow you to live as if you are already on holiday. You can find these works in my online shop tinystories.nl. Holiday flair for the home, so to speak! A day on the beach Immerse yourself in the colours of the sea and get an extra dose of vitamin sea. As our colour themes, we use light wood tones, white and, especially, every imaginable nuance of blue to invite a fresh breeze through your apartment. In combination with maritime furniture and accessories, you can sink into the blue of the ocean when you look at the 30 x 40 cm art print INTO THE BLUE (€59.95) or laze on the sofa at home, dreaming of the next beach trip and the fine sand under our feet. The picture is available in a limited edition of 300. Urban jungle Tropical diversity and green flora create a jungle atmosphere at home. You can easily obtain this effect in a 30 x 40 cm or 50 x 70 cm picture format on your wall. The artwork BALI (from €49.95) allows the viewer to dive into the exotic green world of Indonesia. It’s a high-quality reproduction. The original painting was painted with Japanese brushes on vintage paper. This tropical motif can unfold its full effect in combination with other green decorative elements, such as a monstera or banana leaf placed in a sisal pot next to the artwork. Big in Japan meets Scandi Love Why choose between Copenhagen and Tokyo if both are possible? Scandinavian sobriety combines with Japanese elegance: Welcome to the much-loved Japandi style! The straight-line look with its clear design language is grounded in high-quality natural materials, illustrating that "Less is more". The abstract, two-dimensional art print AWAKENING OF THE SENSES (30 x 40 cm, €59.95) combines a Scandinavian colour palette with white, pastel black and grey. Happy home with blue artworks Let's welcome the mood-enhancing colour blue! Intense blue tones are taking over our walls this summer to create a happy home and feel-good atmosphere. The calming and clear colour positively affects both body and mind, even in its more intense nuances. It can elevate your mood and help you concentrate and focus. Blue decorative elements can work wonders, especially in the areas surrounding your desk.  Below, I have compiled my three favourite blue art prints: Floral joy The art print INDIGO FLOWERS (from €59.95 and limited to 300 copies) is available in the size 30 x 40 cm. Tightly packed floral silhouettes are kept in a deep blue tone and provide a naturally beautiful interior.  Glancing into the depths The art print INTO THE BLUE (from €59.95) promises to relax your eyes. Strong blue shades meet a breezy pastel tone and form a harmonious connection. The abstract art print is a high-quality, limited-edition reproduction, and is available in the size 30 x 40 cm. Radiant lemons The bright yellow art print CITRONS à L‘INDIGO (from €39.95) speaks of warm summer evenings and southern countries. Embrace your wanderlust and enjoy the exotic charisma of this work, painted in Morocco. This quality reproduction is available in an A4 size – framed or unframed. Distant yearning

Distant yearning

by Tiny de Vries
Wanderlust and enjoyment of art There are many destinations for those with wanderlust or a desire to travel. Set off into the wide world by starting right here in your home. Allow my exotic artworks with their vibrant colours to lead the way. During my travels, I always collect new sources of inspiration and unique materials. I then combine both in my artworks and invite you to immerse yourself in these distant locations of yearning at www.tinystories.nl.  In the article below, you can find my highlight art works:  Oriental Dreams This monoprint, inspired by the intoxicating city of Marrakesh (€49.95), is available in a 30 x 40 cm size. Known as the “red city” because of the colour of its walls, Marrakesh reveals its  colourful cloak of dark red tones at sunset, as I express in this work.  Coastal love In this abstract, two-dimensional print with soft grey and beige tones, I center my love for the coast and the Frisian islands where I spent my childhood holidays. The 30 x 40 cm art print Coast (€49. 95) is available in a limited edition of a total of 300 pieces. Flowers from Korea The sensual and simultaneously powerful portrait of a woman captivates the viewer's gaze. On my trip through Korea, I acquired special handmade brushes that inspired me to create the motif Korean Flowers (from €39.95). This quality reproduction of the original on vintage paper is available in the sizes 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm and 50 x 70 cm. Behind The Scenes: Bali Travel Impressions "Memories of Bali...I walk home through rice paddies, emerald paddy fields.Whispering blades of grassswaying in the gentle breeze. Let's go wandering againdrawn by the innocenceof these deep green rice paddies."Tiny de Vries    The idea for this painting came about during a hike through the emerald green rice fields of Bali. We inhale deeply, our mind comes to rest, while our eyes become immersed in the vibrant blue and green tones of the landscape impression Bali (€49.95) and are allowed to recover from the outside world. The art print is available in a 30 x 40 cm size in my online shop www.tinystories.nl.  I share travel inspirations, personal snapshots and special finds from the world of art and interiors on Instagram @tinystories.nl or on my Pinterest channel @tinystoriesartshop.
