Here she is… Rue de la Bahia

A narrow, lovely alley,

walls in shades of rose.

Golden sunlight falling softly

through the tall palm leaves.

Warm shadows on the quiet stones,

little carpet stalls and tiny grocers,

smiling faces greeting the day,

and the light walks with me

Here she is…

Mystère en fleurs.

She turns away in quiet delicacy,

her dress a garden full of dreams.

What she hides in beautiful colors

is whispered only by the flowers.

A mystery in bloom

It was around sunset when I wandered through the streets of a small village in India, where time seemed to have stood still. A herd of buffaloes made their way home from the fields, their heavy steps kicking up dust in the golden light. Women were busy cooking, baking chapati over an open fire, while others returned from the fields, balancing bundles of firewood on their heads. Children laughed and played in the street.

Three women stood together, watching me with curious eyes. They smiled and gestured for me to come closer.  “Where are you from?” they asked, in a mix of English and hand gestures. They invited me to join them for chai. Once we were inside, they removed their headscarves, just us women among ourselves, it was so lovely.

As we sat together, sipping our tea, I made a few sketches to capture the moment. This portrait, ‘Rising Sun’, is a tribute to that lovely unforgettable encounter, a memory of warmth, connection, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

Colorful joy, inspired by my love of color.

Color is so powerful, it sets the mood for the story I’m telling through my art. I use color very intuitive, I do not start with a color palette, but start painting directly, I am fearless when it comes to color..

Love to paint on old bookpaper and old faded paper, painting with japanese brushes and twigs, using thin layers of ink & paint. Old paper sucks up the ink and paint quickly, giving the paintings an open and transparent look. After a few hours the ink and paint begins to spread a bit, blurring previously sharp lines, and figures become distorted, love this mysterious and dreamy feeling.

“Nongkrong” – in Indonesian language “relaxing & hanging out with friends”. At the time I was a student in Indonesia. We sat together with friends having coffee and talking. “Nongkrong” is all about the pleasures of sharing time with friends.

Here she is… painting Palmeraie

In the Palmeraie, quiet wide and green
palms sway in the air

Dates in the sun hanging from branches heavy and sweet.

From childhood on a love stayed true

for palms that lean toward skies so blue
for desert roads where heat runs high
then suddenly softens as you pass by.

An oasis appears where the desert ends

a ribbon of river that bends and bends
green along water life returning near
a sudden miracle becoming clear…

Female faces are always a big inspiration to me. I enjoy especially drawing the eyes and this is what I start with. It is the most difficult part of the painting but also the most exciting to find out her expression, her character while drawing.

Rêve d’azur et cassis

Limestone cliffs, sun-warmed,

and azure blue water, endless, almost unreal. Parasol pines lean gracefully into the wind.

Wild rosemary and thyme, their scent drifting over the bay. The hum of cicadas singing in the heat.

At sunset, purple dusk settles softly on the azure water below the cliffs.

Catching the moment when the sea remembers the sky…

A drawing on the back of a love letter made on an old typewriter. I love to re-use paper, because it has a story. The faded color, the holes & wrinkles…so mysterious and poetic.

Here she is… Éclat du Matin

In the silence of morning,

the sun begins to rise,

and the day still lies before her,

open, untouched.

In delicate lace,

bathed in the dawn,

thoughts crisp and fresh as the morning light.

With mystery in the unknown,

and a heart turned toward the day to come,

filled with fresh insights,

for often, it becomes beautiful,

exactly as it arrives.
