Ochtendzonlicht, schoonheid in de serene stilte. Portretten drukken iemands diepste emoties, gedachten en gevoelens uit. Ze creëren een ervaring die iemand in staat stelt helderheid te verkrijgen of zich op een dieper niveau met het kunstwerk te verbinden.

De structuur in dit schilderij is zo sterk dat je de penseelstreken bijna kunt voelen. Ik speel graag met kleuren en combineer kleine accenten in een neutrale kleurenpalette.

Ik heb altijd al een zwak gehad voor het hergebruiken van materialen. Toen ik jonger was, erfde ik dozen vol oude schatten van mijn oma en opa, die ook schilder was. Van penselen tot linten, van papier tot naaipatronen. Voor dit abstracte landschapskunstwerk heb ik hun antieke papier gecombineerd met gevonden papier uit Canada en uitknipsels van mijn oude schilderijen. Droom weg in een koraal- en chocoladekleurig landschap.

Het leven draait om verbinding maken met wat ons omringt. De natuur, familie, vrienden en vreemden. Soms heb je geen woorden nodig om verbinding te maken; een blik, een gebaar, een glimlach kan al genoeg zijn om de verbondenheid van binnenuit te voelen.

Ik verlang naar zomerdagen met lila luchten en een warme bries als een zachte streling.

Het licht volgen. Elk deel van de reis omarmen, luisteren en leren. Soms loopt het verhaal anders, maar dat betekent niet dat het minder mooi is...
Vertrouwen hebben in het proces. De vrijheid hebben om het opnieuw te proberen en het onverwachte te waarderen.
Zoveel passie. Met een open hart dat verder kijkt, en met beide voeten op de grond.
De stilte herinnert me aan dit huidige moment. Mijn geest en mijn hart omarmen de stilte, een liefdevolle omhelzing.

As part of this mini-series “Tendre terre” is inspired by the Japanese concept “wabi sabi” which is about the perception of beauty. Accepting the transient nature of life, authenticity serves as a focus point of wabi sabi cherishes the cracks and imperfections. They symbolize the passage of time and loving use. Love as the antidote to a throwaway society built on disposable goods and mass-produced homogenous items.

I walk home across the rice-fields, green emerald rice fields. The grassy blades whispering, swaying in the gentle breeze. Let us walk once again through the innocent charm of the paddy fields. Hiding ourselves in this cocoon of simplicity. Emerald green fields.

In Japan the ginkgo’s fan-shaped leaf has caried symbolism along with its singular beauty: A symbol of growth, protection, peace, strength and hope, a symbol of longevity and a symbol of love.
Ginko is also associated with duality, a concept that recognizes the feminine and masculine aspects of all living things, ying and yang. In mythology, it’s the tree of live while the leaf is the symbol for love. Thus, a lovely gift for yourself or a loved one.
