Palms swaying in the air,
dates hanging from branches,
heavy and sweet.

From childhood on,
a love has stayed true,
for palms reaching toward blue skies,
for desert roads where heat runs high,
then suddenly softens as you pass by.

An oasis appears, where the desert ends,
a ribbon of river
that bends and bends.

Green along the water, life returning near,
a quiet miracle becoming clear.
