Love to paint landscapes and flowers ‘en plein air’, outdoors. The sun is going, clouds are moving, animals are flying around… Love the process of observing, listening, the brush strokes, and mixing the colors.

Painting landscapes is a beautiful thing for your eye to travel through. It’s more then just painting the scene, I really want to feel it through painting.

When I paint, I feel it and I get into it.

This painting brings back lovely memories. After my graduation I lived in Indonesia and studied art. I lived with my tutor and his family who taught me so much about art, Indonesian art and culture, but also about perspectives in life. I was quite shy at the time and he encouraged me to tell my story. So I travelled around Asia and back in Utrecht I founded my atelier “Tinystories”.

Jade is one of my favorite Gemstones. Considered one of the most precious stones of the East, it is said to strengthen love and happiness, balance and harmony. As a stone of the heart it is believed to help moving past wounds and fulfill dreams.

When I paint a Spring color palette, I think of a spring meadow filled with colorful flowers, bright, and fresh, full of life. Spring colors seems to me; curious, witty, adventurous, confident and eternally optimistic. The clear greens in the trees and fields, flowers blooming every where, and wildflowers along the side of the road. The landscape seems to be painted in watercolors and everything is awash in sunlight, it’s so energizing.

I always had a thing for reusing materials. When I was younger, I inherited boxes of old treasures from my grandma and grandpa who was a painter too. From brushes, to ribbons, from paper to sewing templates. For this abstracted landscape artwork, I used their antique paper mixed with found paper from Canada and cut-outs from my old paintings. Dream away in a coral and chocolate landscape.

I drew this paining watching a beautiful sunset in Poylnesia, the colours shifted in tones with every inch the sun set further into the coean, merged with the sea.

I walk home across the rice-fields, green emerald rice fields. The grassy blades whispering, swaying in the gentle breeze. Let us walk once again through the innocent charm of the paddy fields. Hiding ourselves in this cocoon of simplicity. Emerald green fields.

This artwork is dedicated to the full and rich colors of Marrakesh. Its magical sunsets inspired me to paint this one, so we can all dream of Marrakesh…

This painting is inspired by a woman I met during my travels to the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. Her eyes and facial expression were so captivating, so strong, so full of love. I sketched her a lot and finished this painting after coming back home to my atelier.

Living in the Netherlands, it’s never far to the sea and I go as often as possible. When I travel, I enjoy the long walks on the beach, hearting the ocean sounds and colleting shells and pieces of coral. The sea, sometimes rough, sometimes calm, gives me a lot of energy and frees my mind.

I love the mountains, rivers and the ocean. On our winding journey of life, we are like the river, coursing it's way gingerly toward the sea, exploring the universe of that inward journey toward the self.

This painting was created during summer in a luscious garden with beautiful wildflowers. I love to combine pink. Let it be light, dark or raspberry bright – paired with green a sense of balance is created.
