Female faces are always a big inspiration to me. I enjoy especially drawing the eyes and this is what I start with. It is the most difficult part of the painting but also the most exciting to find out her expression, her character while drawing.

Jade is one of my favorite Gemstones. Considered one of the most precious stones of the East, it is said to strengthen love and happiness, balance and harmony. As a stone of the heart it is believed to help moving past wounds and fulfill dreams.

In Japan the color red is regarded as an auspicious colour and associated with happiness, strength and joy. This painting always makes me happy, I love the bright color and the pattern of her kimono.

This painting is inspired by a woman I met during my travels to the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. Her eyes and facial expression were so captivating, so strong, so full of love. I sketched her a lot and finished this painting after coming back home to my atelier.
